RSS In Your Profile

We can now offer you another great feature. An RSS feed in your profile page or hybrid pages.

What’s an RSS feed?

RSS (originally RDF Site Summary, often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”) includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship. ~ Wikipedia

We can show these feeds with or without the summarized text mentioned above.

So how can that help you?

If you have a blog or a website and you have an RSS feed, you can now show your feed at the end of your profile or anywhere you want in your Hybrid Pages. For example, have a peek at the end of Shannon Grissom’s profile page under “Latest Posts At Shannon’s Site”. This is a live feed that includes summarized text. Whenever Shannon adds something at her website, her profile page gets updated automatically within an hour.

Look at the end of this post for an example of a feed without the summarized text. It comes from the online magazine, Life As A Human. If you hover over the titles, the summary text will appear.

What if I don’t have an RSS feed or a blog or a website?

No problem. You can burn your own custom RSS feed and then give us that link.

2 great ideas on how you can use this

If you have a website or a blog that does not have an RSS feed, you can use the information in the article ‘How To Build A Custom RSS Feed’ to burn a feed. You can cherry pick the best of your content and feed it out. You can also post a link to that feed. If it’s a good feed, others might just show it at their blogs or websites.

Or, suppose you are an expert in Interior Design but you don’t have a web site or blog. You do however have some favorite web sites or blogs that you read frequently. You can burn a list of your favorite articles and show those links in your profile here at My Business Info.

Whenever you update that feed, your profile page at My Business Info is automatically updated as well. Fresh content. Now you are providing your existing clients and potential customers with something of value. Namely, information that you think is important for them to be aware of.

Here is the example of an RSS feed with no summary text.
